iPad Screen Replacement in Goa: Glass vs Display, Cost & Time
iPads live dangerous lives — they're handed to kids, balanced on beds, and carried loose in bags. So it's no surprise that iPad screen replacement is one of the most requested services at our Panaji centre. But "broken iPad screen" can mean two very different repairs, at two very different prices. Here's how to tell which one you need.
Glass damage vs display damage — the crucial difference
Cracked glass, working picture
On most non-Pro iPads, the touch glass (digitizer) and the LCD underneath are separate layers. If the glass is spider-webbed but the picture underneath looks perfect and touch mostly works, you likely only need the digitizer replaced — the more affordable of the two repairs.
Damaged display
If you see black blotches, coloured lines, a dark half, or no image at all, the LCD/display panel itself is damaged. On newer iPad Air and iPad Pro models the glass and display are laminated into one unit, so any damage means replacing the full assembly.
You don't need to figure this out yourself — bring the iPad in and our free diagnosis will tell you exactly which repair applies and what it costs, before we start.
Why iPads need more careful hands than iPhones
- The glass is glued, not screwed. Opening an iPad means carefully heating and separating adhesive around a large, thin sheet of glass. Rushed work cracks the frame or the new panel.
- Fragile cables live under the glass. Wi-Fi antennas and touch cables run right where careless prying goes wrong.
- Cheap digitizers ruin the experience. Poor touch layers cause ghost touches and dead zones — infuriating on a device made for touch. Quality parts matter (here's why).
How long does iPad screen replacement take?
Because of the adhesive work, iPad screen replacement typically takes a few hours to one day at our centre, depending on the model and damage. We test touch accuracy across the whole surface, all four edges, and the cameras and buttons before handing it back — with warranty on the repair.
Is an older iPad worth repairing?
Usually yes. iPads age slowly — a 4–5 year old iPad with a new screen still handles video, browsing, notes and online classes perfectly. If your model is genuinely too old to be worth it, we'll say so at diagnosis rather than take your money.
